I was born and raised in Delhi, and as might be the case with most of you, I wanted to be a physician growing up. I remember giving her an undergraduate premedical test, popularly known as DPMT. Only a few girls had qualified that year, so most of us ended up together at Lady Harding Medical College (LHMC). And honestly, that was one of the best things to happen to me.
I went on to do residency in anesthesia from UCMS, got married, moved to the United States, and redid residency this time in internal medicine. But I always identified myself as a proud Hardonian.
LHMC is not just our alma mater, but the foundation of who we all are. It did not just inculcate medical knowledge but made us the strong, independent women physicians we are today. From going to the anatomy lab for dissection to clinical rotations and a one-year internship, every day, every memory is inked in our brains.
And hence, LHMCAANA now gives all of us a chance to re-live those memories.
As the state lead of Alabama, I aim to continue the same bonhomie in our chapter that we shared as colleagues during our med school. To give a feeling of a family away from family and to be there for each other in times of need. To help juniors find their footing and be there for respected seniors with whatever help they need.
